So I was intrigued when I received an email from Mari at Square-Eyed Geek telling me that she had nominated my blog for a Liebster Award. I was flattered and so did a little research into the Award; it is essentially a 21st Century chain letter – each ‘nominee’ nominates in turn 10 more recipients of the award. Frankly I think it’s a brilliant idea, each nominee must have under 200 followers so this award draws attention to the newer and more ‘out of the way’ blogs.
So to pass on this ‘letter’ I have to answer a few questions set for me by my nominator, and then pass the award on to some of my favourite small blogs. So please take a look at the people I give this award to, they really are worth it!
So here are my 10 questions set by Mari
Question 1 = What is your favourite film and why?
My favourite film? It’s a toss up between Pulp Fiction and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Pulp Fiction because it reminds me of a great time in my life when I would sit and watch endless amount of Tarantino with my friends (and of course recreating the twist competition at many a party). And Eternal Sunshine because it always astonishes me how something so seemingly incomprehensible turns into one of the most amazing romances.
Question 2 = What would be your absolute dream job?
Film reviewer and Arts Journalist, easy one really!
Question 3 = Who is your hero?
I don’t really have a hero, I have lots of people I admire for different reasons but no hero.
Question 4 = What would be your dream holiday destination?
My favourite place to go on holiday is Rome, I am a classics student so Rome and Pompeii really talk to my inner geek. But I am planning a trip to Turkey soon, maybe a bit of island hoping over to Greece as well. I love to travel and move around so any dream holiday would probably involve a backpack and a lot of travelling.
Question 5 = What’s your favourite book?
The best book I’ve read recently is Pushing Ice by Alastair Reynolds, it’s just brilliant and everyone should read it. But my comfort book that I always come back to it The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham – such a good creepy book!
Question 6 = What is your favourite past-time when you’re not writing your blog?
Watching films, TV anything really. Reading and listening my records is also great, something about vinyl you just can’t match!
Question 7 = What sort of music do you prefer?
I love alternative/indie stuff – mostly singer/songwriters, but also the great British guitar bands that are reemerging at the moment. (I also have a guilty love for country music but don’t tell anyone!)
Question 8 = Do you have a favourite food?
Hands down pizza!
Question 9 = If you were going to be stranded on an island (and already had unlimited food and water), which one item would take with you?
Umm difficult probably a laptop with the internet – or is that cheating? Maybe an unlimited supply of books!
Question 10 = Which 10 people, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party?
Stephen Fry, Sarah Millican, Nicolas Hornby, Jasper FForde, Douglas Adams, Alex Turner, Justin Vernon (just so my boyfriend could meet him), Gaudi (I mean he’d be fun yeah?), Kyle MacLachlan (but as Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks) and Ryan Gosling (he doesn’t have to talk he can just sit there).
